Frequently Asked Questions

Online Physiotherapy | FAQ’s
What is Online Physiotherapy?

Online Physiotherapy works like a virtual clinic. You have access to a physiotherapist via a video consultation. Through your consultation, your physiotherapist will assess your presenting condition by taking a thorough clinical history, assessing your movement, and conducting special tests.

Our goal is to reduce the time spent traveling to and from sessions, give access to physiotherapy services within the convenience of your own home and most importantly to help you improve your quality of life.

Through simple and user-friendly software and technology, we can accurately assess your presenting condition and provide you with a treatment program that will closely be monitored remotely, through a physiotherapy application.

Is Online Physiotherapy effective?

There are now more than 70 articles outlining the benefits of rehabilitation over the internet and this evidence is only mounting.

A traditional view of Physiotherapy is that it involves “hands on” treatment. Physiotherapy has moved away from relying on these treatment modalities and only few physiotherapists use them to assist with your condition.

Educating you about your condition, identifying contributing factors from your lifestyle, as well as compiling a treatment plan which often includes pain management techniques and a tailored exercise program, are some of the most important things Physiotherapists do.

This type of treatment allows you to take control of your recovery process. Science has shown that with this treatment methodology, we see effective results through online physiotherapy management. Additionally, this process is more convenient which will further increase the likelihood of treatment adherence, attended, and thus optimise outcomes.

How can an Online Physiotherapist diagnose my injury online?

All Online Physiotherapy appointments start with a ‘subjective assessment’, in which the Physiotherapist will ask you a well-structured series of questions designed to discover what they need to know about your injury. By the end of the subjective assessment, the Physiotherapist should already have a very clear idea of your probable diagnosis.

The Physiotherapist may then perform some tests to conform this diagnosis. This method of reaching a diagnosis has proven to be as effective as in person consultations.

If we are ever unsure of your diagnosis, we will not hesitate to refer you to an on-site Physiotherapist.
